This ground pork dandan noodles dish will soon be a family favorite.  Delish!

Last weekend my friend Morgan and I went to .facebook.com/88MarketplaceChicago/”>88 Marketplace, which is the largest Asian grocery store in Chicago.

If you’ve been to H Mart, this is that times 10!  We probably spent 90 minutes in there.

When we got home, we made a Dungeness crab stir fry, braised bok choy and pan fried noodles – so good! 

As we were packing up stuff for me to leave, she gave me a giant bag of dandan noodles that were leftover from a dish she made for one of her clients.

That is how this ground pork dandan noodles dish was born – with basic Asian ingredients that everyone should be able to find in your local grocery store.

What are dandan noodles?

Dandan noodles are traditional street food noodles that were carried on long poles down the streets.  They only take a few minutes to cook and can be find in most grocery stores or your local Asian grocery store.  If you can’t find dandan noodles, lo mein noodles are a great substitute.

What ingredients do you need for pork dandan noodles?

these are the ingredients needed to make pork dandan noodles

  • ground pork – if you don’t care for pork, simply substitute ground chicken, beef or turkey.  Tofu and shrimp would be good too!
  • veggies – bok choy or bagged stir fry vegetables.  Taylor Farms makes great bagged stir fry veggies, but they are all different shapes and sizes, so I blend it in a food processor so everything cooks at the same time
  • soy sauces – I love using both regular soy and dark soy sauce – dark soy is concentrated, so a teaspoon goes a long way
  • chili oil – Hannah and I are obsessed with chili crisp and chili oil – 1 teaspoon adds so much flavor
  • dandan noodles – if you can’t find dandan noodles, le mein noodles work great too

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces lean ground pork
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables
  • 47 grams dry dandan noodles
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions. I used dandan noodles, but lo mein noodles would work too!
  2. Heat wok or large skillet over medium heat with avocado oil spray.
  3. Add pork and cook 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add in the chili oil, soy sauces to the pan and cook for one minute.
  5. Add noodles and vegetables and toss to coat the noodles and cook for one minute.
  6. Enjoy!
